In the year 2019, He(Rema) came into the limelight as a teenager with the Trap/melodic rap sound under the umbrellas of Jonzing World and Mavins Record; The two Record labels owned by D Prince and Don Jazzy respectively.
Following Rema's breakthrough with his debut EP titled "REMA EP", the EP which housed his first major Hit song titled "DUMEBI" and other successful tracks like "IRON MAN" and "CORNY", he explored and experimented other sounds that weren't really a thing here in Nigeria and still was able to Influence almost every Young up and coming Nigerian act in and out of the grassroots, during his time with the "Alien sound" he was dishing out.
Following the release of his second EP titled "REMA FREESTYLE EP"; the project which featured Trap songs like "Spiderman", "Boulevard", "Spaceship Jocelyn" and "Why", a huge number of up and coming Nigerian Artistes (Teens majorly) started showing off the Post Malone, Polo G, Juice Wrld and the Roddy Rich in them, in a quest to just "Be another Rema, a better Rema or even an outstanding/different Rema".
After experimenting and succeeding in the melodic rap/trap sound's trial, He was able to come up with his own designed sound and switched into it. The sound dubbed "Afro Rave" was as a result of change in fan base's name from "Commandos" to "Ravers".
Rema switched into AFRO RAVE and we saw Victony and Ckay in the Limelight Already, doing almost that same style of music. He nose-sang and we saw Lojay, Oxlade and Alpha P doing it too. Now, all the afformentioned Acts use the same background voices, the reverb Large Hall vocals and similar/almost the auto tunes as him, even similar instrumentations. Omah Lay's sampling a hush up of Rema and Wizkid's instrumentations too, Victony's artworks, cover arts and graphic designs are almost same as Rema's own. Safe to say if Music was a Religion and Afrobeats was Christianity, Rema would be the Jesus of his own Generation and Wizkid would be the God.
